Cindy Nicholson
Cindy Nicholson

Cindy has been part of Evanston Vineyard since 1979 when she married Steve. Together they planted a second church (now Urban Vineyard in Chicago) in 1981, and together they have trained and launched thirteen planters within the Chicago area and a dozen more to places as near as Detroit and as far as Istanbul. Cindy is coordinator for the Vineyard USA national church planting task force. Within Evanston Vineyard she is a teaching pastor and oversees the hospitality, arts and intercession ministries.

Grace Schmelzer
Grace Schmelzer

Grace, a native Texan, attended college in California where she was delighted to discover Vineyard churches and the work of the Holy Spirit. After college, she did inner city ministry in San Francisco with South East Asian refugee families and met her husband Dave at the San Francisco Vineyard. Later they moved out to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Today, they're co-pastoring the church and staff team and have started a second site in Boston.Grace also heads up the church's international initiatives. She has a particular love and passion for the Arab Middle East. Grace and Dave enjoy parenting their five boisterous children.


Thora Anderson

Thora and Brian Anderson planted VCF of North Phoenix in 1985. She is pastor of Women’s Ministry and helps Brian lead the Southwest Region of the Vineyard USA. They have ministered in Japan, Korea, the UK and South Africa, and were overseers for the Vineyards in Australia for six years. Thora loves ministering to and raising up leaders, and seeing people start using their gifts and abilities. She taught high school English for 8 years before pastoring full time. She and Brian are the proud parents of Zoe and Luke.

Julia Pickerill
Julia Pickerill

Julia attends the Vineyard Church of Columbus and is married to Eric, who is a pastor on staff. Together, they love to call believers to live sacrificial, kingdom-focused lives. Julia preaches regularly at the Vineyard and travels often to speak at Vineyard conferences around the country. She and her family are preparing to church plant in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in 2008. She has several really courageous girlfriends, one brilliant, godly husband, three amazingly spectacular children and many, many dreams.

Cheryll Hanawalt
Cheryll Hanawalt

Cheryll Hanawalt and her husband,Bill, were part of the planting team for the Evanston Vineyard. Cheryll volunteers as a teaching pastor in the Evanston Vineyard and also works with the church’s partnerships in the US and overseas. Cheryll is also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (MACP, Northwestern University). She has provided professional counseling services for the church since 1985 and has supervised and trained many other professional counselors. Bill and Cheryll have three sons, a daughter-in-law and a granddaughter.


Teresa Diaz-Maldonado

Teresa Diaz-Maldonado gave her heart to Jesus in 1976. Her profound conversion experience led to the healing and restoration of her marriage and a long and painful but beautiful journey of personal healing. In 1992 Teresa and her husband, Ray, accepted the invitation to pastor the Urban Vineyard in Chicago. Over the years, Teresa has been involved in speaking, women’s ministries, and leading support groups. She and Ray oversee a church ministry that brings freedom to those held in demonic captivity. Teresa and Ray have five children and three grandchildren.

Adey Wassink
Adey Wassink

After receiving a masters degree in counseling and postgraduate training in family systems, Adey joined the staff of Evanston Vineyard where she served as a pastor and counselor. Ten years ago, Adey and her husband Tom planted Vineyard Community Church of Iowa City, where she serves as Senior Pastor. Adey also leads the Vineyard Midwest region’s Women’s Leadership Initiative. She lives to see women trained and empowered to serve in all domains of leadership within the Vineyard movement. Adey loves to hike with Tom and their 5 kids.
