Evanston Vineyard Refugee Ministry

The mission of this ministry is to be a community of believers who seek to introduce refugees to Jesus while lending them a helping hand as they adjust to life in America.  By “refugee” we mean those who have been forced to leave their native countries due to war or persecution.  Some of the places the refugees have come from include Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, Turks from the former Soviet Union, Cuba, Azerbaijan, Liberia and Angola.

In order to bless these refugees we have done things like English tutoring, baby showers, holiday dinners, providing rides, providing donated items, answering their questions, praying for them, bringing them to church, hanging out with them and visiting them in their homes.   The needs will vary at times and there are different levels of involvement/commitment that you or your house group can chose to get involved in.

We have one meeting each month.  They alternate each month between “planning meetings” on Sundays after church and “prayer/connecting with others meetings” in the evenings at the home of a ministry team member.   We conduct refugee ministry orientations/trainings for those wanting to get involved.  For more information please contact Mike at 773-934-1654 or mymoline2@yahoo.com or check the Sunday bulletin for updates.
